Throughout my life, a word often used to describe me has been “creative.” I was voted Most Creative in both middle and high school and have held a lifelong passion for the creative process, whether it be through the visual arts, written word or music. Growing up I dreamt of being an artist, but I knew the age-old saying about “starving artists,” and I have also always loved the world of academia.
I was born and raised in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. After graduating high school in 2007, I attended the College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina, with the intention of majoring in studio art and my eyes set on pre-med. But, after taking my first philosophy course during the first semester of my freshman year, and later scanning through the available course list, I shifted to a philosophy major with a minor in studio art. It was in the classrooms of my philosophy classes where I felt most at home in my undergraduate studies. I found joy in the art of the written word and in the creative process of developing arguments and writing philosophy papers. I also appreciated that there were others like me who liked to argue, I mean debate, for the sake of good conversation.
It was also during my first semester of college that I became acquainted with yoga and meditation. Within my academic studies, I gravitated toward eastern philosophy, and throughout college I experienced countless parallels between the information learned within the walls of my college classrooms and the walls of my yoga classes. Yoga and meditation have brought immense peace to my life, and I dare say that these modalities over the years have allowed me to show up as a better law student and lawyer.
Law was a natural progression from philosophy, with its emphasis on dissecting and developing arguments, research, and analysis. As it turns out, law is also in my blood. My grandfather and uncle owned a law firm and practiced together for 35 years in my hometown before retiring. Upon graduating college in 2011, I felt that I needed more real-world experience before I could adequately represent clients in the legal field. At the time, I was also very inspired with my visual arts, primarily jewelry design and painting, and I knew inspiration was not something you could simply force, so I took advantage of the opportunity and decided to pursue my art part-time while gaining valuable career experience. I moved to Los Angeles for four years, which I knew to be one of the main creative hubs of the United States. I worked full time, sometimes two or three jobs at once, and devoted most of my free time to creating art and vending as many events as I could.
After a while, I finally felt I was ready to take the plunge with law school in the spring of 2017. I hired a tutor with the plan to enroll in law school by August 2017. With my tutor’s help, countless hours of studying, and the grace of God, I managed to secure a full tuition scholarship to Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. During law school, I kept my passions for creativity and the great outdoors alive and served as President of both the Cumberland Society of the Arts and the Cumberland Environmental Law Society. I also spearheaded a volunteer yoga initiative, where I offered monthly yoga classes to students and staff, aptly named Bending the Law Yoga by one of our law school librarians. As many know, law is at the top of the list as one of the most stress-inducing careers, and it was my hope through this initiative to share the tools from yoga and meditation that have helped me so tremendously over the years.
After graduating from Cumberland in 2020 and passing the Alabama State Bar, I began my legal career in Huntsville, Alabama, where my law practice centered primarily around real estate, probate and civil litigation. I am thrilled to now be adding the State of Tennessee to my repertoire and am looking forward to growing my legal practice with Crow Estate Planning & Probate, PLC!

Mr Crow and his staff are amazing! Especially the person assigned to my account, so a special thank you to Callie! Callie answered all of my questions and set expectations during a very confusing time in my life. Mr Crow and his team worked diligently with my specific situation and were very results driven. I would recommend Crow Estate Planning and Probate to anyone looking for an estate or probate attorney.
Today my wife and I completed (at Crow Estate Planning and Probate) our Will, Living Will, Power of Attorney for Finance and Medical. As a Tennessee CPA for over 20 years (now retired), I’d like to leave this review so that others may benefit. Our experience rating with with Crow Estate Planning and Probate is EXCELLENT. Our legal team was Kyle Shannon, Callie and Julia. This team was competent, courteous, and professional. They made a potentially complex experience “easy” despite multiple minor trusts involved. The charge for professional services rendered was very reasonable. My wife (Denise) and I would like to thank Kyle and his team (Callie and Julia) for a great experience that exceeded our expectations. I will return for legal needs and I will refer family and others to Kyle, Callie and Julia.
